7/2/04 - That sucks. My subwoofer just went up to that big bass box in the sky. Don't know why, either. Was working fine up until now....it's an Altec Lansing setup that I've had for like five years, though, so I think that it was just past it's prime. Was strange, though, I started up Winamp, and when the speakers came on they made an ungodly racket and then the subwoofer didn't work anymore. I thought the whole setup would go, though, as the speakers on my desktop run through the subwoofer...but whatever. I think that my pops has a set just like it that he's since replaced, so perhaps I can use them instead of letting them sit in his attic.

Oh yeah, that sub is dead.

So anyhow, the other day, I got the best compliment that I could have received while playing games online. I got told that I have the patience of a saint. As many of you know, I have an addiction to Counter-Strike. I admin for a server called Dick-A-Thon. Despite the name, it is a decent place. We don't take people being jerks or any kind of racial crap, with the latter being the reason I started to be a regular there. I got asked to be an administrator there, which means I can kick and ban people, or change the maps that play, all of the goodies. I do more peace-keeping though, as people are more likely to be a-holes than they are to actually cheat. The other day I was on, doing my thing and shooting people, when one of our regulars started complaining, and then another guy, who was obviously new to the game, kept holding up gameplay. I was trying to watch our other servers (there are three of CS 1.6) while doing so, so it got frustrating quick. Regardless, I was having a conversation with one guy who didn't like the maps, trying to get the newbie to move instead of hide, and watching text from our another server because it was coming to a boil there, too. I was trying to relay this to the people on my team, and one guy told me that I had the patience of a saint.

Honestly, I didn't even have time to figure out who had said it, but it was nice to hear. He went on to say that he would have kicked the guy complaining already, kicked the newbie for holding up the game, and said to hell with the other servers.

Guess that's why they pay me the big bucks. (That's sarcasm, so you know...it's a labor of addiction...I mean love.)

So I was trying to tell you what I've been listening to, as well, wasn't I? Well, a while ago my buddy Wikki gave me a few CDs full of MP3s, and I've just recently gotten around to putting them all onto CD for my car. One of the albums he supplied was the new Alien Ant Farm. Probably not new to a lot of you, but it's new to me, anyhow. I've really become attached to the song "Glow", which is track four. I don't have as long an explanation as to why I like it as I did last time, but it's a really really catchy tune. Something about how it sounds like AAF is going out on a limb musically, first off, which gives me a deeper appreciation for their talents, and it's easy to bop my head to while driving. Go give it a listen if you haven't already, it's pretty badass....and the rest of the album is well worth the time, too.
